Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
