Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt prepared to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced passing more hours together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without laughter".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.

In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate put a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
