Reports indicate that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Major Return to Panem
Lawrence and Hutcherson are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. It is believed their cameos will probably be featured in a brief glimpse ahead, given that the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This represents the sixth film in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
Delving Into the Prequel
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who directed nearly all the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's events are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several notable actors in key parts:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes is cast as a younger version of the calculating President Snow.

In other news, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
Regarding the filming timeline:
- Principal photography commenced in the summer of 2025.
- Filming was completed in November of the same year.
- The much-discussed film is slated for November 2026 theatrical debut.
