Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team access places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
